Men 100 Metre Under 20 FINAL

============================================================================
National: N 10.29 11/10/1997 Matt Shirvington, NSW
Meet: M 10.40 2011 Nicholas Hough, QLD
Name Year Team Finals Wind Points
============================================================================
FINAL
Wind: -0.5
1 Jarrod Geddes 94 NSW 10.48
2 Hugh Donovan 94 QUEENSLAND 10.50
3 Josh Clarke 95 NSW 10.52
4 Ryan Bedford 95 VICTORIA 10.79
5 Aaron Bresland 94 WESTERN AUSTRALIA 10.91
6 Anthony Collins 94 QUEENSLAND 10.95
7 Isaac Wohlsen 94 QUEENSLAND 11.03

What a cracking race this must have been between three of the hottest young sprinters in the land. Less than half a metre between the three of them.

Women 100 Metre Under 20
============================================================================
National: N 11.20 15/10/1968 Raelene Boyle, VIC
Meet: M 11.76 Sally McLellan 2003 Carla Williams 2011,

FINAL
Wind: -0.7
1 Daniela Roman 96 VICTORIA 12.01

3 Margaret Gayen 94 SOUTH AUSTRALIA 12.06
4 Monica Brennan 94 VICTORIA 12.09

6 Maddie Pirie 95 NSW 12.36
7 Larissa Chambers 95 QUEENSLAND 12.39
8 Abbie Taddeo 94 NSW 12.50

This is a massive upset. Brennan would have been a short price favourite yet missed out on a medal. Roman who is 17 this year and the youngest in the field, was fourth fastest going into the final and caused a boil over.

Another final with about half a metre between the first three.

Assume you are in Perth. U/18 400m heats have not been updated on the Live Results as yet....any chance you can tell us what time Sam Baird ran in his heat?

Based on his Bendigo Black Opal win, somewhere in the high 47's would be around the mark.

48.59s in his heat win

From what I saw he won his heat by almost 2 seconds looking very comfortable.

What a week, Sam Baird is having. Just won the Bendigo Black Opal - the biggest pro-running quarter mile race in the country and now has a World Youth Champs qualifier with a brilliant run in the national title. Outstanding effort by both the athlete and his coach - Peter O'Dwyer.

Good pick up Phantom.

That is an outstanding coaching performance - two lads from Ballarat in the same squad running either 1 or 2 in the national junior champs in the same discipline.

Last 12 months of excellent results for Peter O'Dwyer has been the culmination of a lot of years building his squad.

u/17 Meet record : M 47.64 2007 Kieran King, WA

6 years on. What happened to Kieran King? Should be in his prime at 23.

Double Jeopardy

Drafted by the Brisbane Lions.
http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/kieran-king-2009.521633/

"
King was then a surprise delisting at the end of the year. While nothing official was announced, there was talk his ankle injury was so bad that it is incapable of ever recovering. With King being placed on the club's permission to train list it was thought he would be picked up in the rookie draft, but it never eventuated. It was a sad end to a career that was over almost as soon as it started.

Vic U/18 team that included the two POD squad lads (Baird & Procaccino) recorded a very impressive time in the 4 x 400m - just outside the meet record. Would have won the under 20's by a fair margin.

13 year old running 54s - won by about 30 metres. .

Still, he was a fair way off the meet record of 51.56 set in 2004. That lad, Matthew Sommers would be 23 this year. Be interesting to find out what he is doing now.

Not 100 percent sure , the boys from NSW may be able to verify this but I think he ended up at the Cronulla Sharks, dont know if he ever broke into the senior team or not.
You are better with your research than me so it may be a good place to look.
