Cameron White can maybe repeat his local hero win two years ago.

Mark Beveridge can make it a win this year after almost catching Brian Witty last year.

And Cheryl Zeuner has always had the endurance and has found a lot of speed lately, winning the Loxton 300m.

Ron Axford can make it a win this race after almost catching Cheryl Zeuner in the Loxton 300m.

And Geoff Troiano looked very strong winning the Camden over35s 400m just a few weeks agp.

Plus there may be a few more contenders in the likes of:
Sue Turner, John Turner, Brian Witty, Ray Earle, Brian Golden, Ross Hill-Brown, Lyn Peake, Brett Stokes and Ian Reddaway.

Hey Stoksey, Im suprised you didnt rate Everson in a dozen or so picks.
Looked good in his heat last year and looked the winner in the final before going amiss.
In the same form he wins.Doesnt run a lot of pros so we wont know until Sat.
I think hes got under your guard.

No Chance

So who won what?

hey No Chance.

Cheryl Zeuner scored the big money in the Over45s 400m.

Daniel Flesfader won the Over35s 120m ahead of Jackie Chehade and Peter Biggs.

No Chance

wheres the in depth report?..how did you go?..well done to the winners.

Hey No Chance.

I was waiting for a results listing to check details.

What I can remember is ..

I was run out in the heats of the Over35s 120m, beaten by Jackie Chehade and Peter Biggs (who both reached the podium in the final).

Similar story for me in the Over45s 400m - I was off 64m chasing Darcy Cheney 74m and Debbie DeVizio 92m and Cheryl Zeuner 110m.

I overtook Debbie on the back straight but I got stuck in traffic on the final bend, in behind Darcy and with Ross Hill-Brown and Peter Biggs and more beside me as the setting sun hit me full on blinding bright ... so I relaxed and then took off on an inside line down the straight, passing Darcy but not getting anywhere near Cheryl and Ross and Peter.

Didnt see you out on the track Thurs night Stoksey, but noticed you moving around tonight.
Are your problems preventing you from training two nights per week.
Only one more meet and you can give the body a rest for a few months, and remember just keep smiling the handicappers way.

No Chance - More on Flagstaff -

In the 400m for Over45s, second place went to Ross Hill-Brown (who was within a metre of Cheryl Zeuner at the finish).

Third place went to Steve Wilson.

---------------

Whispers - thanks for the subtle hint that maybe I could benefit from training more often.

Over train, under train, train just enough ...

At Flagstaff, I was chatting with Chief Steward Phil Daws ... and Phil said that training every day was the go ...

Food for thought ...

I have avoided over training, thinking that I needed recovery time ... why do I think I need recovery time ... maybe it is just a habit from when I was truly impeded by my tight/atrophied muscles ... maybe I am over that phase now, with my muscles pretty much sorted .. maybe ...

Also I have been wanting to avoid the knee and hip problems that seem to come from "too much running" ... but maybe it would be fun to to be able to run further than a few hundred metres at a time ... and maybe my knees and hips are good ... I enjoyed the book Born To Run recently, full of ultra marathon dudes and dudesses, featuring a lost Mexican tribe who like to run 50km before breakfast and then again before lunch.

Also I have been wanting to avoid the calf and foot pain problems that I get from "too much sprinting" ... but the socks I wear actually help a lot ...

Eleven years ago, I was a cripple for a few weeks, my lower back seized up completely ... it has been a lot of work to get where I am, doing okay for an almost sixty year old person ... but I want to be faster, like Anton's dad Hans who did 11.44 for the 100m at my age.

Whispers, what do you suggest?

If you had have asked me 10 years ago I would have said ,Put plenty of Ks in those legs but these days its all about Quality training not Quantity.
All about understanding the body and knowing what the body can take.
Dont worry about what others run ,just make sure you are getting the best out of yourself.
Watching you go round ,I reckon the season cant come quick enough as you are right off the boil.
Enjoy the rest get the body right and I reckon theres still a couple of sashes left in those legs next season.

Some good advice there Whispers.

Why is there no results on Flagstaff meeting apart from Stokesy?

"Why is there no results on Flagstaff meeting apart from Stokesy?"

Good question No Chance ...

Cascade of reasons:

(a) SAAL have not put results up on SAAL web site (No surprise there).

(b) Greg Denehy has not put results up on ProTrack, as he has done in recent times, with promptness and thoroughness many thanks Greg.
I do not recall seeing Greg at Flagstaff - I suspect he was maybe at another athletics event (so maybe add the program clash as another reason).

(c) Youngy has not put results up on ProTrack, as he had done in recent times before Greg Denehy's recent impeccable efforts.
I do recall seeing Paul at Flagstaff.

Now what can be done?
(A) Long term and short term ...

(A1) can we persuade the SAAL to make this happen, maybe people donate time and services to enter and check data ... ??

(A2) plus maybe we go for a long term solution with the specs as described by me recently on ProTrack = useful online access to historical results ??

(A3) like A2 but do it ourselves some how, create an online database of SAAL results, fund it by donation/sponsorship and advertising ??

(B) "Greg Denehy - we love your work and we miss you more than ever - come back soon"
or similar gratitudinous pleas to Greg ??

(C) ... Youngy ?? Anybody?

Thanks for that GT ,perhaps theres people out there that can fill in the missing spaces and events.
We dont appreciate the work some people go to, until that work doesnt get done.
Perhaps the SAAL may be able to rush Flagstaffs results through on their site and catch up with the others later.
