Hey Guys, just noticed the whole field has been pulled back for the Opal, is this because of the handicap limit being 40m? .

Not really fussed just curious as to why the VAL do this.

I believe it may not have been a VAL request. I think the event was listed as 'the backmarker will be marked from scratch' so that could be the reason.

This ones gonna be a cracker. My final field is Noddy ANGELAKOS, Rhys PARKINSON, Samuel BAIRD, Lonain BURNETT, Shaun HARGREAVES,James COLLIER,Dominic HOSKINS and Michael BELTRAME. Any one else I should be considering putting my money on?

I agree ANGELAKOS for the win.
Maurer (51.9 on a windy track in heats on the weekend) to sneak into finals
Beltrame to be top 5 as he has proved he can go the three rounds and is in 47.1 form as did Boudrie.
R.Brown off 25m is in 50.5 form so he just has to run the right race.

Mirrorz is excited about this one.

What point in the home straight will Baird start celebrating?

How long will his speech go for?

Will Sam break 44.5?

Can't wait to watch it under lights.

This could be the race of the season. Any chance of a poll and/or form guide? Even if is just for second place as suggested!

Forget your 70s, 120s, 800s, and 1500s. This is the most anticipated race on the VAL calendar other than Easter Monday.
What a line up... So many chances this year, wide open. Have heard Baird's run at Maryborough will become folklore, Hoskins was outstanding at Stonnington, Parkinson is having the dream season and might be ready to add sash number 9 or whatever he's up to now... There is also a contingent of younger runners from 20-30m who could cause an upset if they bring there best to Bendigo.

Lots of cash, gemstones and sashes on offer this weekend, cannot wait!

My tip is Parkinson and I'll double him in for the granddaddy of them all on Easter Monday too! Ring a ding ding, the pumper is the king!

I missed Sam Baird's form... Wow. He is a 48.0 runner who runs from 17m. Two horse between him and the Angel.

JH, once again providing handicaps first, in fact handicaps on Protrack before they were on VAL website yesterday?

But before we go tipping anyone we should make sure that handicaps are correct?

Upon quick review, MTR has found at least 10-15 obvious errors, not to mention omissions from starting lists.

We should all hold onto our horses and make sure we have correct weight (handicaps) before we go spruiking winners!

No doubt the VAL HQ hotline has been ringing off the hook for the last day or so, no doubt by now VAL Handicappers inboxes have had a flurry of emails!!

Any chance we can get correct handicaps put online in future? Will save a whole of of confusion and heartache for all concerned.

My tips are as follows:

Andrew BOUDRIE 7m
Dominic HOSKINS 16m
Samuel BAIRD 17m
Mitchell HOCKING 19m
Rhys PARKINSON 24m
Lonain BURNETT 25m
Brett MAURER 26m

With smokies being
Cam DUNBAR 22m
Noddy ANGELAKOS 35m

Looking forward to watching the battle between Hoskins and Baird coming off pretty much the same mark!

Boudrie would have to be a massive chance off 7m
Mather won in 47.75 last year ahead of Hayes-Hornibrook in 48.31

Boudrie runs 47.53 at Vic Champs last weekend.
Surely that brings him right into it...

It's a totally different game having to run around people tho biggie compared to having your own lane on a synthetic track

Also last year's field was back 10, this year it is back 3. That is about a 1 second difference. I don't think there is much doubt they will go under 47 this year.

Baird ran a great final. Almost got caught out in the semi but adjusted well. A few names popped up in that final no one seemed to think had a chance though, always keeps it interesting!
