Nothing at all

I would say the likes of S.Hargreaves and B.Matthews have stepped up already. Between them they have a Queanbeyan, Mt Gambier, and have made a Stawell Final and runner-up at Burnie. They're both travelling ok if you ask me.

Woodside 120m Gift competitors:

Matt CARTER MORNINGTON 2 - A great win from the 3m mark at Peninsula. However the Gulliver trained backmarker may have shot off too early if he hopes to secure a Woodside sash. A sure chance for the semi’s though and an exciting one to watch.
Sam JAMIESON WILLIAMSTOWN 2.25 – the 2008 Stawell Gift champ ran decently at Northcote, but unable to make an appearance in the 100m Semi. Will struggle to make it out of his heat given his form at the moment.
Simon GREIG MOUNT ELIZA 3.25 – This youngster almost took flight at the recent Australian school-boy champs with a 10.66 in the 100m final and made the Rye final last season. He could prove to be one to watch closely, even from his tight mark. A possible final chance.
Adrian MOTT HAWTHORN 3.5 – Gaining more and more form making the Northcote 100m final. Given another 20m to make up ground, could be a smokie for the final.
Brendan MATTHEWS CANBERRA 4.5 – the ‘09/’10 Stawell finalist returns to Vic again. Always a promising athlete, so would put him at least in the Semi’s.
Chris KANGARS WANDANA HEIGHTS 5.25 – A consistent runner who has featured in few open gift races. Worth keeping an eye on. Possible Semi’s.
Kevin BRITTAIN GROVEDALE 5.5 – The legs are continuing to start rolling at the start of the season for the ’10 Stawell finalist.
Ira THOMSON CANADA 5.5 – Always a great athlete on race day. Ira made the finals of numerous big gifts last season. Expect this to be another one for the Canadian wonder.
Paul TANCREDI OAK PARK 5.75 – Consistently puts up a challenge in his heat but a finals berth would be unlikely. Just a Semi for Paul this year.
Shaun HARGREAVES WERRIBEE 5.75 – Young, energetic and consistent. A definitely semi for Shaun, and if he gets his race plans right, a final as well.
Richard KANGARS WANDANA HEIGHTS 6 – Like Chris, Richard is a promising athlete. Made the Stawell Novice final, and will be a pain for the backmarkers to chase down. A semi only.
Michael BOLTON MT ELIZA 6 – Seems to be still gaining form at the moment. Made the Northcote 70m final and ran well in the Peninsula 70 also. A semi chance.
Bros KELLY TYABB 6 – His heated battle with Carter at Peninsula shows he’s not far away from an exciting victory in a big gift. Skipped defending his Northcote title yet ran the 400m final, suggesting he’s preparing. A sure finalist for Bros.
Adam RABONE ASHBURTON 6 – Relatively unknown athlete in the field, so not much can be said as to how he’ll go. Will have to wait and see.
Matthew HARGREAVES TARNEIT 6.25 – Mr Consistency says it all. Never doubt that Matthew will be a finals chance. A final at Northcote, but struggled to catch Vickery. Will definitely be up there.
Douglas Greenough East Bentleigh 6.50 – Stawell finalist last year, and running consistently this year. A fair way back from his Ararat victory, but don’t count him out.
Benjamin WEAVER MOUNT ELIZA 6.5 – Second to Woodhams in his Stawell Semi Final last year says he loves the 120m and the big stage. Another smokie for the final if he can re-visit that form.
Corwin PUSCH NORTH MELBOURNE 6.5 – Made the Victorian 100m final earlier in the year, running beside the likes of Wroe and Burgess, Carter and Alozie. He should be a chance off his 6.5m mark. A sure Semi.
Robbie SCHAEFFER MELBOURNE 6.5 – A semi at Peninsula is his only shining moment this season so far. Will be keen to put his name up in the top ranks of the VAL’s sprints. A possible semi finalist.
Jason SHEPHERD FERNTREE GULLY 7 – Won the VRTA 70m Open earlier in the season, proving he’s quick out of the blocks. Can he hold off some fast finishers is the question. He’ll be hard to catch though.
Damien BYRNE MALVERN 7 – Has only run once this season, not making it out of his 100m heat this weekend past. Needs to get going if he’s to mix it with the favourites.
Sean LAW MOOROOLBARK 7 – The Blabbermouth trained athlete has featured in the Northcote semi’s and the Movember 300m final this season. Loves a big run and could cause upsets among the field.
Cam DUNBAR RINGWOOD EAST 7 – Made a billion finals last year before securing the Keilor crown. Always a danger to his competitors and will charge his way down the track looking for a final, and a possible finalist he is.
Bryce BARNWELL HIGHTON 7 – Will need a bit more of a mark if he’s to be competitive in this one. Maybe just work towards a tick this week for Bryce.
Matthew WILTSHIRE ALFREDTON 7.25 – An impressive young runner from the Ballarat region who came second in the 120m novice in his home town. Haven’t seen much this season, so maybe a semi for Matt.
Gary MONGTA GEELONG 7.25 – was the Stawell gift smokie on this site earlier in the year. Off 7.25m he looks promising for a final, but tipping him for just a Semi.
John NICOLOSI PASCOE VALE 7.5 – this 5” dynamo gives 100% at all meets, what we all love to see. Whether it’s enough to gift him a chance at this one is another story. Maybe later in the year for John.
Augustine CARTY-COWLING WEST FOOTSCRAY 7.5 – Again may need a bit more lift to be competitive. A tick runner that may show his face in the semi’s.
Thomas DOUBLIER CANTERBURY 7.5 – Once again a bit short of mark. Would be best looking for a tick this week and focussing on something later in the season.
Peter O'DWYER BALLARAT 7.5 – His mark may be his nemesis for the experienced legs of the reigning Ballarat gift champion. Maybe a semi for Pete at Woodside.
Peter WALSH CORIO 7.5 – Expect him to be in the top 10 this week. Will tip him for a final also, but no win this time for Walsh.
Paul CRACROFT-WILSON QUEENSLAND 7.75 – Coming a long way from QLD for this race. Will be expecting a big result for himself. A chance for victory, and a backable one at that.
David TINNEY HAMLYM HEIGHTS 7.75 – a nice mark and a nice chance for a final, amongst a lot of others. Will be tight, but personally, just a semi for the Don.
Darren ROWLAND CROYDON 7.75 – A young athlete who’s always up and about the track gaining his ticks. He might need a few more before he starts to become a chance though. May struggle for a semi.
Derek COLLINGE CANBERRA 8 – Semi final at least for Derek, though he may focus toward the 400 a bit more this week.
Demetri KASIMATIS WILLIAMSTOWN 8 – A novice runner trying to make his mark this season with a few runs over the past few meets. Running well, but needs more of a lift to be able to be competitive.
Lachlan TAYLOR TAYLORS LAKES 8 – Expect him to come hard late. This fast finishing 400m runner will be unpredictable through the 120, but a Semi final beckons for the 3-time winner at Stawell.
Ryan CAMILLE WHEELERS HILL 8.25 – Struggling to see a big impact for Ryan this week. Should focus more toward the 400 / 800 events for this meet.
Craig ROLLINSON WARRAGUL 8.25 – Making finals this year, recently at Terang and Peninsula. Expect another one for Craig. May very well finish up in the standings as well. A possible victor.
Adam PARKES CAMBERWELL 8.25 – The Camberwell runner will have to wait out on a win in a gift this week. He will focus more to the 400 type races for results.
Josh TIU DONCASTER 8.25 – This will be a big meet for the Tiu Tiu train. The Doncaster boy will be in a good position to capitalize a win if he gets it together. It’s up to him to prepare for a big one.
Nick MAGREE MITCHAM 8.5 – Nick is an athlete who recently is always up with the winners. As they get pulled, he edges closer to winning. Time will tell.
Chris CATO GLEN IRIS 8.5 – runs a good 400m. Whether he can hold off the fast finishing backmarkers will be his challenge. Maybe a Semi.
Fabrice MELANIE NOBLE PARK 8.5 – A good runner who isn’t scared to appear in a final. Made the Maryborough final last season, and won Sandringham. This year won the Dandy 300. Expect a Semi for Fabrice.
Matthew HARVEY KEYSBOROUGH 8.5 – A consistent athlete who goes hard every time. Can make a Semi but a final may be a touch out of reach.
Cameron YORKE CROYDON NORTH 8.5 – A versatile athlete running all distances this season. May look towards the 70 or 400 for a win though.
Luke VERSACE SOUTH YARRA 8.75 – Will go hard early. Can’t see a final this year though for Luke.
Adam COOTE ELWOOD 8.75 – Won the 800m at Terang earlier in the season. Very versatile runner who will pose a challenge to the backmarkers to catch.
Troy KENNY DERRIMUT 8.75 – Appeared in the Semi’s at Terang but has gone missing since. Maybe a Semi for Troy, but not much to go on.
Peter DUDKIEWICZ MELTON 9 – The dude will be liking his 9m mark but might need a touch more to be a real chance. A definite semi for Peter and could very well sneak through to the final.
David WILLIAMSON ROWVILLE 9 – A very good, fast finishing 400m athlete coming 3rd at Northcote last week. Should probably look to the 400m again to seek a victory at Woody.
Sally PEARSON QUEENSLAND 9.5 – The only female athlete in the field and what an athlete Sally Pearson is. We’ve all seen her claim top spot in the 100m and 100mH in Delhi, plus that memorable gutsy 400m. Can she use her 9.5m to her advantage and parade up the straight with 5 other boys? There’s a good chance she can.
Sam CAMPBELL TOORAK 9.5 – An up and comer who shows some good stuff down the gift track. Look for him in the 70m for his best chance.
Matthew EDDY NOBLE PARK NORTH 9.75 – A confident frontmarker who can hold of fast finishing athletes. He’ll be hard to catch as he heads for the line. A sure semi finalist.
Andrew FLANAGAN EAST RINGWOOD 10 – Not afraid to have a crack. Will need more mark to be in the mix, but a joy to watch run.
Nick HOWARD TULLAMARINE 10.25 – Another versatile athlete who will enjoy having a run down the track. Wouldn’t put him in the mix, but could be a chance in another event.
Matthew SHIEL NORTH BALWYN 10.25 – A solid 70m athlete. Should look toward that event for better results though.
Javad ASGHARI DONCASTER 10.25 – Seems to hit form later in the season. Could open a few eyes at Woodside though. Expect a Semi final for Javad.
John CARA EAST DONCASTER 10.5 – Haven’t seen much this season so not much to go on. May focus on something else though.
Craig FOLEY PASCOE VALE SOUTH 10.75 – promising over the distance. Definite Semi for Craig. Not sure about a final though.
Matthew MIFSUD COBURG 10.75 – A final is a possibility for Matthew. He will be in the semi’s for sure.
Matthew KIERNAN TRUGANINA 10.75 – A consistent runner making finals already early in the season in the 70m VRTA. Maybe a Semi final, but look to another event for better results.
Ryan HOFFMAN QUEENSLAND 11 – travelling a long way for some big money. Expect Ryan to be in the Semi’s.
Tommy TOSKAS NEWPORT 11.25 – Will be needing a bit of lift to be in the mix. But don’t count him out in other events on the day.
Gene MAWER HOPPERS CROSSING 12.5 – If this keen veteran athlete can find his legs on the day, he’ll be a hassle to catch. Perhaps a chance at a Semi.
Darren WHITTAKER MORDIALLOC 12.75 – A big mark sets Darren up with a good chance for a final. Ran well at QBN. 12.75m spells a final for the frontmarker.
Todd IRELAND WARRANWOOD 12.75 – The Stawell Veterans 100m champion of past is always a worthy competitor. Does love a run in the big events, but a final may be further possible in the veterans event at Woodside this week.
Glenn STEPHENS EAGLEHAWK 12.75 – A very versatile athlete who can range from 70m to 400m. One of those events would be better to prove number one in at the moment.
Clayton FRASER WANGARATTA 12.75 – Made the 300m final at Movember and Northcote. He could very well be another finalist this weekend in a veterans race again, as he seems to be consistent. Not for the main race though. Possible Semi.
Stephen SHEPPARD CANBERRA 999 – Either he’s starting 999m ahead up the freeway, or no handicap... Hasn’t run this season so too hard to predict his chances. Wait and see.

Thanks to somebody of that other site.

Good write up. Well done. Who is blabbermouth in Sean Law's write up?

5 Re: Woodside Handicaps on Tue Dec 14, 2010 10:16 pm

It's a default setup for the name of Fiedler setup by Jim Bradley who is the administator of the Albany site. Jim hates Nick and cant help himself to constantly bite at him. Jim hates this forum aswell because Fiedler is one of the administrators and he sees this forum as competition against his own. Pathetic by Jim really.

6 Re: Woodside Handicaps on Wed Dec 15, 2010 11:45 am

Childish and petty. Sad really. That cesspool of a forum and the idiots it attracts reflects Bradley's attitude of "couldn't give a shit" about anyone else.
