Always tough to pick the winner when this time of year comes around, with many eyes looking towards the Bay. The trips up the country bought back some intriguing results, with Stephen Thiel and Wallace Long-Scafidi bringing home the chocolates. Athletes dont have to travel as far this time, and with it being held at Colley once again, athletes will want to get used to the famous track. With the limit at the bay 11m, we'll take the handicaps into consideration as we know the frontmarkers will be gunning for the win.

The 2010 Pre-Bay Gift final in no particular order.

Clint Tobin (13.25m)
Looked impressive in what weve seen this season, making the Whyalla Final off his current mark. Even though the competition was suspect, it shows hes in form to challenge for this one. A safe bet!!

Shane Grimwade (16.25m)
Has the mark to once again challenge here, and like mentioned earlier, his mark tells you he'll be flying to try an add another sash to his season. Should easily make the final, and it wouldnt be a surprise if you see him atop the dias once again here. The winner??

Ryan Hancock (9.25m)
Two races and two finals so far for this man, 2nd at Whyalla and 5th at Mount Gambier. Based on those results, the only way to keep him out of the final is if he doesnt run. Form on his side, and with all races until the bay non-penalty, its no reason why he cant go one better than Whyalla and win here. Podium!!

Bradley Letton (9.25m)
Surprised a few, me included, in making the Mount Gambier final last race, seems to be hitting form at the business end of the season. The 4 time Loxton Gift finalist and dual winner will be right in this, and if he brings his Mount form, he should final. Maybe!!

Damian Tohl (7.75m)
Has been making finals on a regular basis this season, without stepping atop the dias as yet. With the bay approaching, it wouldnt surprise me if hes still in abit of a heavier workload in preparation for a tilt at winning his 2nd Bay Sheffield. Will surely final, but probably not fresh enough to win it.

Ben Koschade (7.25m)
We'll stick with the 'Mount Gambier Final' theme and pick last weeks runner up. Was 2nd at Port Adelaide and again last week, and with Long-Scafidi out the way for now, he'll be looking to get a sash on the board to mark whats been an impressive start to the season. Yep!!

See you all at the Pre-Bay Carnival, entry lists make for some super racing.

pie-Man away!!!

Pieman, I wouldn't disregard Gross and Tronnolone. They both ran good heats at the Mount only to lose time in the Semis. If they sort out their semi runs, there is a Gift win for both of them around the corner. They could suprise today.

Thanks pieman for the vote in confidence in tipping me, sorry I let you down, struggling lately to back up in the semis let alone get to the final. Seem to get almost quickest heat times but fail in the semi??? Any tips on how to overcome this? Crying or Very sad
