I wonder how she managed to get here?.
She was sponsored by me and others on her last visit and used our generosity to the limit in fact the Department OF Immigration was informed of a breach of her protocol .
She also did not perform and was here for a paid for holiday. Wonders will never cease

Anyone have a copy of the rules on this (Josh Ross starting behind scratch)? Looks to me like no-one wants the field to move up and therefore fall outside the limit only to then be pulled back to the limit.
It would seem unfair to have the rules bent to keep the field within the limit, but the rules wont be bent to allow those outside the limit to compete without being disadvantaged.

seems to me he was not in original list of noms
as he is a late nomination handicapps may have been declared prior to his nom ergo if accepted he will have to run behind scratch /why aren't handicapps changed so that every one now starts in every race off new backmarker/
what is criteria for handicapps without ross in field ,how is marks worked out/i would suggest that backmarker in any event starts from scratch

I think this is very smart by Ballarat. If my understanding is correct, and I may be wrong, as a late entry Josh will need a handicap based on his performances. As marks were already declared, he must start behind scratch. Ballarat obviously did not want to have their limit increased and have used a loop hole to do so. Well done to them.

This would then place him off -2.75 not -0.75 as indicated in the article

No offence to Josh, it will great to watch him, but how does one get a "late" registration, so late that the marks have already been determined??? more bending???

Pretty sure there is a rule that allows clubs to issue a wildcard entry to athletes that meet a certain criteria.

Spot on Phantom with the wild card entry.
Also looks like the rules allow the rules to be changed, I guess to allow a minus .75m handicap. One of the other rules/regulations is that the VAL can only have races over set distances, ie 70m 120m etc not 120.75, I guess that's where the rule to change rules over rides this?
