2011 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS ENTRY STANDARDS
As approved by the IAAF.

First figure is A standard, second figure is B standard.

Entry rules: Each Member (country or territory) is entitled to enter up to four athletes per event (one to four athletes with A standard; or 1 athlete with B standard and up to three with A standard) but in both cases a maximum of three athletes will be allowed to compete.

Each Member can enter two athletes per event who have reached the B standard but only one can compete.

Members who have no qualified athletes may enter one unqualified male and female in one individual event except for 10,000, steeple-chase and combined events.

If host country Korea has no qualified athlete in any event it is entitled to enter one athlete (or one relay team) regardless of entry standard.

The World Marathon Cups are incorporated; a maximum of seven athletes may be entered; no more than five can start with three to score.

Automatic entries: In addition to the above, reigning world champions can be entered regardless of whether he or she has achieved the entry standard.

Additionally, all area champions in individual events (except the marathons) from 2010 or 2011 qualify irrespective of whether they have reached A or B standard.

Qualifying period: Performances must be achieved from 1 Oct 2010 (1 Jan 2010 for 10,000, marathon, combined events, walks and relays) to 15 Aug 2011 (midnight Monaco time).

Wind assisted marks will not be accepted, nor will hand timed performances at 100, 200, 400, 110/100H, 400H and 4x100.

Indoor marks for all field events and for races of 400 and longer will be accepted (but not on oversized tracks).

Age limits: Juniors in 2011 can compete in any event except the marathon and 50k walk.

Youths cannot compete in the 10,000, marathon, walks, men's throws and decathlon.

Athletes younger than 16 on 31 Dec 2011 cannot be entered in any event.
