Hough blasts 20.67

by Inside Athletics
23 December 2012

Sydney University’s Nick Hough has moved to number three on the Australian all-time junior ranking list with a blistering run of 20.67 seconds at the final round of the Athletics NSW Club Premiership at Sydney Olympic Park Athletics Centre.

Hough shaved 0.12 seconds off his previous personal best to move within arm’s reach of the B-qualifying standard for the 2013 World Championships of 20.60 seconds in his last run as a junior. Only fellow NSW athletes Fred Martin (20.48 seconds in 1985) and Darren Clark (20.49 seconds in 1983) have run faster in the junior ranks.

The performance caps off a strong year for Hough, who won a silver medal in the 110m hurdles (0.99m) at the World Junior Championships in Barcelona before recently making his debut over the adult height, clocking a creditable 14.11 seconds to defeat NSW record holder Justin Merlino
