The last two year's 120m for over35s at the Bay have been dominated by runners from outside of South Australia.

David Palmer coming second in 2010 was the only South Aussie to get one of the six spots on the podium in 2010 or 2011.

The handicapper has gifted the Vics again.

That is what it looks like to me.

But I will still do my best and so will a lot of other runners who have worked hard for this event.

Not much point in any further analysis ... but I will have a little go at predicting the top three and the semifinal dozen with a couple of extras:

1 Shane Ezard
2 Richard Norris
3 David Palmer

4 Lyn Peake
5 Ali Saliu
6 Mark Donovan
7 Sue Turner
8 Shane Buckingham
9 Shane Grimwade
10 Alex Jefferies
11 Ross Hill-Brown
12 David Wilczek
13 Brett Stokes
14 John Turner
15 Ross Nitschke
16 other invaders (I mean visitors)

Stokesy,
A very detailed analysis. However, you'll need to amend your stats as Norris is from QLD. (easy mistake as much the same happens in the gift where Vics get bashed for having good handicaps but in fact NSW have a better record at making the final).
Anyway my pick is SA's own Jackie Chehade. Goes up a full 3 meters from 2009 when she came 2nd to Ali Saliu. The family are Bay specialists.

If Buckingham is in any sort of shape he will shit this in! Just look at his Stawell 200...

Not his Stawell 200m, his Stawell vets 100m off 10.50 which he won. That is the equivilent of 12.50m over 120m. Good chance but may be on the fat to skinny program again.

hey Ribera, thanks.

I quickly reviewed what I wrote and I will claim that I have not actually exactly said that Norris is a Vic ... a close call for me, thanks for the info ...

And as regards "Vic bashing", that is a perhaps a valid issue ... I am intellectually against "Vic bashing", but I seem to be unable to stop myself ... Bob Shearman got punched out behind the play at Adelaide Oval when I was a little boy in the crowd, and the Vics were the Bad Guys ... then we had a crappy car race and the Vics stole the car race ... I was glad to see the last of the Grand Prix but then we got the V8 supercars instead ... where was I?

Yes, "Vic bashing" excuses. But there is no excuse.

I am sorry.

Please forgive me in future I will try to be more fair and objective.

And yes Jackie Chehade is a possibility.

Congratulations to David Palmer and David Miller for making the final.

The first four places in the final were won by interstate competitors, even with Ezard choosing another race and scratching from the 120m for over35s.

Something is wrong with this picture.

"Sour grapes" says Stokesy.

There was only one Victorian in the Over 35's 120m final - 4th placed Darren Arthur.

1st was WA beach sprinter Glenn Ross who extraordinarily seems to be getting better as he gets older. Third time he's won the codgers' race.

2nd was Cameron Yorke who might be residing in Melbourne now, but plied his trade and enjoyed most of his pro-running success as a West Aussie.

3rd was Sydney based coach Brian Wright.
