Apart from QBN, this is the first big weekend of racing with the Mt and peninsula on Saturday. So this week we look to see some improvements in performance from a host of athletes. It may be difficult to make this final with 5k up for grabs. This was a fantastic meet last year and they seem to have the balance right with good money for the support events, so best of luck to everyone heading out to Frankston on Saturday, lets hope the weather holds up.

Chances for the gift

5581 Matt CARTER MORNINGTON 3 - Is a quality local and will be having a crack, a roughie but on current amo form looks as though mark will be a bit tight.
5615 Robert VIDLER HOPPERS CROSSING 3.5 - Always a chance as is a quality athlete but may struggle from back there, semi final berth only me thinks.
6184 Carl MOREHOUSE CHELSEA HEIGHTS 4 - Another local with a very good pb, entered at the mt as well so wait and see but final chance if runs.
5563 Daniel STEINHAUSER THURGOONA 4 - always competitive, may final.
6196 Robert STEVENS CHELSEA HEIGHTS 4 - Had a lean year last season after some injuries, will look good early, definite chance if in form.
7106 Kevin BRITTAIN GROVEDALE 5.25 - Has been walking so far this season, may be interested in a finals berth.
5909 Shaun FLETCHER NEW SOUTH 5.5 - If runs, wouldn't come for nothing so chance for final.
5956 Bros KELLY TYABB 6 - Another local, now in Ballarat and has shown good amo and pro form, needs more mark for mine but will be in the semis.
5731 Benjamin WEAVER MOUNT ELIZA 6.25 - Local athlete, showed his abilities last season, may be waiting, look for in the final just to flex some muscle.
2637 Douglas GREENOUGH EAST BENTLEIGH 6.5 - Quality athlete, yet to show much early in the season may struggle from mark, coming back from around 10 last season, semi only.
6654 Robbie SCHAEFFER MELBOURNE 7 - Some very good amo form (22.2e and 49.Cool up for first val run, will cover the distance well, may do an alwyn jones and keep the peninsula tradition going with the winner on debut.
0806 Peter O'DWYER BALLARAT 7.5 - All class, may be a bit tight, but definitely hard to beat, at least a semi.
3352 David TINNEY HAMLYM HEIGHTS 7.75 - Looks to be running well once again, may be waiting for something bigger, but definite final chance.
5500 Lachlan TAYLOR TAYLORS LAKES 8 - Is a known quality athlete, but seems to be waiting or not good enough over the gift distance, another trot will likely follow.
6219 Craig ROLLINSON WARRAGUL 8.25 - Good athlete and running well early in the season, is a definite goer, but will wait till later in the year, we may see in the final though.
8928 Josh TIU DONCASTER 8.25 - Super quick early, off such a mark should final.
6143 Edward WARE NEW SOUTH 8.25 - May be coming for more mark, but is quick winning the novice at stawell a few years back. Semi only.
2811 Cameron YORKE CROYDON NORTH 8.5 - Former WA runner, made big finals last season at burnie and bay from around 9 so may do well if not running the card.
6258 Matthew HARVEY KEYSBOROUGH 8.5 - Up and comer, did well last season, could be unknown quantity early in the season, may final as per last season off 8.
5659 Fabrice MELANIE NOBLE PARK 8.5 - Had a win at Dandenong over 300 so should cover the distance. Back from last years marks but should do well. Final chance.
2341 Nathan FOX SOLDIERS HILL 8.5 - Running well and throwing himself at everything so far, at least a semi.
8828 Javad ASGHARI DONCASTER 10.25 - Up and down but off this mark a chance to final if interested.
1224 Darren WHITTAKER MORDIALLOC 12.75 - Good early season form at QBN, look for a final to the local.
1352 Glenn STEPHENS EAGLEHAWK 12.75 - Always competitive, may do well.
