1 SAAL announces new distance handicapper on Mon Jul 30, 2012 4:46 pm

We would like to announce that Gary Zeuner will be the distance handicapper this season. Gary has run with the League for many years but has decided this year to take on the role of distance handicapper. Gary has a great passion for distance running & we wish him well for the upcoming season.

Glad I enjoyed Ryan Hage's 1000m win at Loxton....not sure we'll be adding too many more distance sashes to the YGTS total.

Seems Hayden Cook retired just at the right time.

Such is life.

Further news from the SAAL.
Be sure to listen to Cornesy and Rowey on 5AA tomorrow night between 4pm and 7pm as they are going to have a very special guest join them in the studio………Camden runner Chris Dimitrak will be joining the boys to co-host their drive time sports show. Chris and his wife Maria successfully bid on the 5AA prize package during celebrations at the 2011 Heats, Handicaps and Heroes Black Tie Dinner – have fun Chris and enjoy.

I think we can do without that sort of inuendo before the season begins.
How about giving the guy a go.
By posting those sort of comments you only add the wrong sort of attention to the YGTS
If you were a coach in the AFL there would be a PLEASE EXPLAIN and a hefty fine to go with it.
I think a very good choice as Gary regularly goes over the border for a run or two each year and maybe we wont end up with another debacle like last seasons Womans Bay 1600m as he has a very good knowledge of the distance runners both sides of the border.
Saw Gary running around Vic racecourse the other week and looked very fit.Obviously not running this season though.

I am not doubting his credentials. I agree his middle distance running knowledge is as good as anyone's in the sport. In respect to 90% of the SAAL I'm sure he will do an adequate job. And that's good for the SAAL, certainly better than not having a handicapper.

But personally, I have very good reason not to share your faith....

And by the way, as the admin of this forum, I'm not entirely comfortable criticizing any official, as I know how hard it is to find good officials, but in this respect I've got every reason to have my concerns......
