A couple of slick runs in the 60m at Enfield on Saturday.

Michael Brusnahan 6.94 and Derek Mai 7.01. Handy runs on a grass track that had copped a bit of rain overnight. The way Michael runs the last 40m - that would put him on target for a sub 10.9e.

It's the fastest time by an SA runner for some time over 60m anywhere - SANTOS or Enfield.

There was no wind indicator.

Is that quicker than todd has run over 60m? Interesting if it is!

Prefer if we avoid this direct comparison if we can.

Michael's training more for 200's.

In respect to the 60, apparently it was impossible to say what the conditions were like compared to a good synthetic track.

Rest assured this kid Brusnahan is seriously talented. He's well coached by Rick Wilson, clearly enjoying his athletics, out there having a go each weekend and gets more impressive as the weeks go by. Has some talented training partners too in McLeish & Pallotta.

Ormrod broke the 7.00sec barrier earlier this year.
Mark was also training for the 200s as well.

The kid is obviously fast but certainly not the fastest 17 yr old in Australia. Nicholas Hough from NSW has easily got that mantle after running 21.00 for 200m a few weeks ago. he has also clocked a 10.6 and a 6.8.

He is the best young talent since Shirvington.

G'day Merv

Yes, there's no question Nick Hough is the fastest 17 year old in Australia and I suspect he will probably win the U/18 100/200 titles at the All Schools in December. He heads the rankings with 10.61 and 21.47 and recently ran 10.69 at the NSW All Schools.

In fairness to Brusnahan's coach, Rick Wilson, just before this interview happened for the Koori News, he was told by by an AA person that Michael was the fastest 17 year old so he went with it, based on the info he'd been told

He does regret not checking the rankings before he spoke to the reporter.

The Koori News were keen to do a story on Brusnahan and published it before anyone got a chance to really see a copy of the article to verify its content.

Despite all that, good to see some publicity about an SA athlete as they are as rare as hen's teeth at the moment.

Both certainly have bright futures. I hope we can keep them in the sport.

Hi Guys,
Nick isn't running at All-Schools this year. After the Youth Olympics in Singapore he's just having a bit of a break from comp, planning his next big comp for March in the Australian Champs. Smile He's definately running well though. If he could get good conditions in the 100 soon I reckon he'll completely bypass the 10.50's.
