EMERGING marathon star Jessica Trengove has won selection for the London Olympics.

Athletics SA was notified on Thursday morning that Trengove's nomination to the Australian Olympic Committee had been confirmed.

After posting a surprise Olympic A-qualifying performance in Nagoya, Japan, in her first attempt at the marathon, Trengove has endured a nervous wait for the close of the qualifying period.

She was third fastest Australian qualifier - and with only three spots available - she had to wait while other runners attempted to qualify faster and squeeze her out.

Trengove, the sister of AFL star Jack Trengove, will join Lisa Weightman and Benita Wilis on the start line for Australia in London.

Michael Shelley, Jeff Hunt and Martin Dent also added to the men's marathon team.

Fantastic news - well done to Jess and her coach Adam Didyk.
