The above link is to an article that appeared in the Guardian Messenger after Stawell about Brad Schutz who won the Frontmarkers 400m.

Interestingly it claims Schutz is the first Camden Classic winner to win a race at the Stawell Gift carnival in the same year.

Not sure where the reporter got his info from, but I'm pretty sure the Camden Classic winner in 1996 won a race at Stawell that season.....and not just any race either.

And the Camden Classic winner of 2002 also went on to win a race at Stawell later in that year.

Coincidentally both of the winners referred to above were dual Camden Classic winners.

So Schutz is in esteemed company.
