Someone is a bit stiff not to be nominated for athlete of the year after winning both the Don Furness + Stonnington in 5 days

4 Re: VRTA Awards Nominees on Fri May 04, 2012 8:06 am

Would have thought Nicolosi would be nominated before both Hargreaves and Tinney. Stonnington gift versus Queanbeyan gift versus Ballarat gift all cancel each other out so next best race win is Don Furness 70m.

Would have Lowry should be nominated ahead of Hoskins. St Bernards 800m and Stawell 1600m are massive races for distance runners. Hoskins had a good season off a tight 800m mark so should be nominated. Just think Trent is a bit stiff.

Probably doesn't matter as Wiltshire, Domaschenz, Mather and Patten are clearly the top 4.

Mather's black Opal semi is the best race I saw all year, his final was pretty good also. Hoskins Rye 800m win was the next best I saw for wow factor. I also thought Patten's Stonnington 1600m rated better than his Wang 3200m win. Was great watching Patten, Marrantelli and Lowry go head to head for the last lap at Stonnington.
