1 Daylesford 100 YARD Gift - Why? on Mon Mar 19, 2012 10:39 am

Why is there a 100 YARDS Gift this week at Daylesford? Assume the VAL Board gave them permission, because a club just can't put on races over any distance they want. can't see why they couldn't stick to 100 metres.

Will the handicaps be metric or imperial?

Pretty simple answer to the question. 2 weeks out from Stawell no-one wants to cop a penalty so the VAL changed the distances to make them all non-penalty races to encourage people to enter. If you look at the VAL website is explains that the 100yard handicaps will be in yards.

Thanks Phantom.
If it's about penalties, why doesn't the VAL just declare this meet non-penalty for Stawell? Could keep the Gift a 100 metre race. Penalites could apply after Stawell.

Trackstar they did the same thing last year at Dandenong, different distances and marks moved around quite a bit.
Breaks the monotony?
