Shoalhaven (NSWAL) postponed from March to Sept/Oct

Was originally scheduled for Saturday 17 March 2012, will now be held in September or October 2012.

It is unable to be conducted on March 17th due to a number of factors:

Firstly, there have been problems with the grounds, and the vast amount of rain that has consistently been falling over a very lengthy period, coupled with the Nowra Show which was held a couple of weeks ago. The grounds are in need of repair and the local cricketers are keen to use them for their finals too; the constant rain is making this difficult.

Further the two local Little Athletics Centres are unable to be involved with assistance with officials and also competition on this date, which reduces the size and impact of the carnival quite considerably; and the local senior club Nowra will have a much reduced involvement of personnel and competitors than previously anticipated.

The local organisers from the Shoalhaven City Council want this first event to be one of many and feel it is essential for it to be a big event so that its impact can be such that it will be easier to secure support, partnerships and sponsorship for future events; if, as appears likely, the first event is small and insignificant (a "Mickey Mouse" event) it will be most unlikely to continue in future years.

Therefore the local organisers are postponing the event to the spring... the September-October 2012 period.
