Stawell Athletic Club releases annual report
Stawell Times
07 Oct, 2011

STAWELL - Stawell Athletics Club Inc. has released its annual report for 2011 ahead of Monday's Annual General Meeting.

The report details the success of the 130th running of the Australia Post Stawell Gift that was held over four days due to the clash with ANZAC Day.

It was Australia Post's 17th consecutive year as the major sponsor of the Easter carnival and their support, along with Government support, has enabled the Club to further develop and support events.

Stawell Athletic Club expresses its pleasure with the continuous support it has received from local residents, businesses, community organisations and the Northern Grampians Shire Council - particularly NGSC Parks and Gardens staff for the excellent preparation of the track and surrounding gardens.

The Club saw the appearance of some of the finest international and Australian men and women athletes compete for record prize in the Australia Post Stawell Gift.

Stawell Athletics Club thanks its major sponsors, including Australia Post and the Victorian Government as well as many local businesses.

A special mention goes to Jump Media and Marketing, the Club's sponsorship athlete and media consultants.

The Club greatly values the support of the local community, with 70 local businesses purchasing 'Official Supporter Club' packages this year.

The Committee wishes to thank all the sash and trophy donors who continue to support the carnival.

President Charles Baird personally would like to thank Graeme Anyon for his fundraising efforts over the past year.

Also, the ladies committee for their support throughout the year and for their work in the lead up to and during Easter.

Mr Baird would also like to thank the Club's Executive and Committee members - special thanks to Ian Stewart (secretary/treasurer), Shelly Chalmers (assistant treasurer), and Robin Kelly (office manager) for their support during the past year.

Items on the agenda for Monday's meeting include the receiving of the annual report, finance report and auditors report.

There will be the resignation/nominations of committee members as well as appointment of an auditor.

Nominations for committee members who wish to be accepted and included in an election position must return their forms by the close of business today.
