Pearson may not have broken the Australian record but to beat Ivet Lalova (SB 10.96 in July) and Mikele Barber (SB 11.09 in June) shows she's more than capable of mixing it with international top quality flat sprinters.

In Rieti yesterday, Jeff Riseley became only the the third Australian to run sub 1-45. His 800m time of 1-44.64 is the 2nd fastest ever behind Ralph Doubell's 1-44.40 at the Mexico City Olympics in 1968 and the fastest time ever by an Australian at sea level, eclipsing Peter Bourke's time of 1-44.78, recorded at the Brisbane Commonwealth Games in 1982.


The lad who finished 3rd in the 800m at Rieti - (Mohammed Aman) running 1-43.37 is only 17 years old. Here is Aman on the left.
