Asafa Powell, who pulled out of the World Athletics Championships in Daegu after failing to recover from a groin injury, is down to compete at the Diamond League meet in Zurich tomorrow.

The Jamaican sprinter attended today’s pre-meeting press conference in Zurich and said he expects a very tough 100m race.

Powell will face off with his Jamaican teammate, Yohan Blake, the new world 100m champion.

Before missing the World Championships because of injury, Powell said the 21-year-old Blake was just a boy after beating him in the Jamaica nationals in June.

But Blake claimed to be running like a big man and it will be interesting in Zurich.

The race will also include two other Jamaicans – Michael Frater and Nesta Carter, who were part of Jamaica’s 4 by 100m relay team that set a new world record on the final day of the World Championships in Daegu.

Eight other Jamaicans are down to compete in Zurich including Melaine Walker and Kaliese Spencer in the 400m hurdles.

Sherone Simpson, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Kerron Stewart will face off with the American pair of Carmelita Jeter and Allyson Felix in the 200m.

The other Jamaicans down to compete are Kenia Sinclair in the women’s 800m, national record holder Jermaine Gonzales in the men’s 400m, and Dwight Thomas in the men’s 110m hurdles.
