17th October 2011
SGM Results
The results of the Special General Meeting held at the Quality Hotel,
Melbourne Airport on Sunday 16th October were as follows.
The current Board was approved by the clubs to remain the same.
An election was held for the three vacant Board positions and the
following people were duly elected to the Board for one year terms.
Andrew McManus
Brian Marantelli
Cameron Yorke
All 10 positions on the VAL Board have now been filled.
At a Board meeting directly after the SGM Mark O'Brien confirmed
that he will accept the position of Chief Handicapper for season
2011-12.
The VAL will now be establishing a handicap panel along with a
stewards panel. All these positions will be filled over the coming
weeks and notices will be placed on the VAL website when the
incumbents are employed.
Due to the SGM, entries for the VRTA meeting at Epping will be
extended until Wednesday 18th October.

Anyone know what the result of the vote was to keep Wally on the board?

Wally needed at least 50.1% of support of clubs in the first vote in order to stay on the board. Let me tell you he only just got there as well! Each of the board members were well supported except, apart from obviously Wally, from Sue Dunbar then Emma Poynton.

The second vote determined the 3 remaining places. McManus, Yorke and Marantelli were all just ahead of O'Donnell and finally Foley. There was no support at all for Touhy.
