SAAL & the Bay Sheffield Heading In The Right Direction

With the massive amount of turmoil and angst in Victorian pro-running, it's interesting to watch as the SAAL continues to go about its business, with little fanfare but I can assure you, there's things happening behind the scenes which are very exciting for the sport.

The sport in SA is going well with money in the bank, a united board and plenty of initiatives designed to progress the sport.

The 125th Bay Sheffield will see a significant increase in prize money across the board, thanks to a boost in sponsorship, engineered by the SAAL.

The Colley Reserve food & drink precinct for the Bay Sheffield will be much larger to accommodate a variety of food caterers.

The SAAL is looking at introducing a junior development program aiming to significantly boost the Under 14 and Under 17 ranks.

They are still waiting on the confirmation of one meeting before finalising & publishing the calendar. That one meet is the November date formerly held by Reynella. The SAAL is looking at returning to a venue they haven't been to for about 10 years. Just need confirmation from one of the sporting clubs resident at the ground to confirm its availability.

Awesome news. Bay-Sheffield is the best meet going around. Great atmosphere, unique running environment, beautiful setup.

Tickets are booked. Accommodation to be completed this coming week.

Can't wait.

Thanks for the enquiries.

At this stage, the total prizemoney is still being finalised BUT news out of the SAAL is very promising and it will be a substantial increase.

Rest assured the 125th Bay Sheffield will carry the biggest prize money in the event's history. At this stage the Bay Sheff itself should be a minimum of $30,000 (total prize money).

Other events will see increases of at least 20% with races like the 550m and the Select Mile becoming genuine classics and comparable to other races of their type in Australia.

Another initiative proposed is a 'Junior Bay Sheffield' for Under 18's. The final will be one of the lead up races to the main event. It's proposed as a one off for the 125th running of the carnival, however if it works well, it could be a permanent fixture on the program.

Interstate athletes should be organising their travel & accommodation now. It will be huge.....

Don't miss the biggest Bay Sheff carnival in history!
