What happened to Glenelg?? Glenelg was a great venue for a lead up meet to the Bay.
Where's the track in Brighton?

Use to run a meet at Sacred Heart when Bill Neil was alive. Good venue. Should go back again.

November 13th meet will probably be a smallish meet prize money wise and likley to be in a beachside western suburb. Just waiting on the ground's availability.

Prizemoney details and booklet likley to be released in a couple of weeks.

MT GAMBIER is looking much, much better and prizemoney is looking only marginally down on last year.

Interstate athletes heading to the Bay Sheffield should seriously consider going to Mt Gambier as whether you like it or not, the handicappers would prefer to see athletes who present themselves at Mt Gambier to get an idea of where they 'sit' in comparison to SA athletes. A lot harder to line up athletes based on what they write on their performances sheet.

Having trouble nominating for Bay and Mt Gambier. Am an interstate runner. Logged into last years login but only form available for re-registration is the SAAL one (this is prefilled with all my personal details). The interstate registration form is not prefilled and is dated season 10/11. The office is closed until Thursday so any help in the meantime will be greatly appreciated.
When do entries close for these events? If it is Tusday 1 Nov this is Melb cup day so Vic athletes don't get caught out. The SAAL office is only open Mon, Thurs and Fri.

G'day 'Vic'

Contact the SAAL either by phone: 0434 549 184

OR by email: saal@internode.on.net

In the meantime, your message has been passed on.

To all athletes considering to run with the SA Athletic League this year, the following message has been emailed to post on Protrack.

When athletes are renewing their registration it is irrelevant what the name of the form is – it’s purely just a renewal of registration. We want athletes that have registered previously to update that existing page with new details if there are any. If nothing has changed just hit submit and their registration will be complete. We do not want athletes who have registered with SAAL previously to create a new registration because then athletes will have more than one username and password and our records will indicate we have 2 athletes with the same name & that will complicate previous handicaps and results.

Simply said if you have registered before then go to the Registration Renewal heading under Athletes Tools – the prefilled information will come up automatically and if any of your previous details have changed update them if not as I said before hit submit – that will take you to the next page then hit confirm.

Hope that all makes sense!

Thanks youngy for assisting here.
It will not let you proceed without selecting a "Registration Type" from the drop down list. There is no interstate category there.
ps. The reason I am airing this on this forum is it reaches more people and I know there are multiple Vics waiting to nominate for Mt G and Bay Sheff.

Thanks
Vic

I do not access the SAAL's interstate athlete registration system so I'm not familiar with your problem.

The SAAL have already had many interstate athletes renew their registrations so it's difficult to know what your specific problem is without direct contact.

I know the SAAL is appreciative of your raising this on Protrack and bringing it to the SAAL's attention but at the moment this appears to be an isolated matter as other interstate athletes have registered and entered without a problem.

So, all I can suggest is you contact the SAAL direct to sort out the problem.

Deb Osmond has the SAAL phone at home with her so if you want to ring 0434 549 184 she will be happy to take your call.

With just the Flagstaff 400 and the Pulteney 800 to go ...

Maybe Mick Abbott could score two wins and get up,

maybe Chris Dimitrak could score two podiums,

maybe John Turner will pull another win ...

maybe Sue Turner will pull another win ...

maybe maybe a miracle could see Stokesy win the Flagstaff 400 with the Hyphenator off the podium,

but Ross Hill-Brown is in a very good position in the race for the over45 season prize, with consistent good form.

Hey, No Chance, thanks.

At the SAAL presentation dinner ($55 per head) which I attended with my special training partner (total cost $110, including nil for suit hire and nil for haircut) last June at the Highway Inn, awards were presented for a bunch of categories.

Ali Saliu won the over35 award, Ali T won an award and was absent overseas but Ian Reddaway gave a speech on Ali's behalf, Amy Robb won an award, Mr Headband Michael Nitschke won an award, and many more ...

The SAAL seem to be quite secretive about the history of these awards.

Also there is no attempt to promote the progress point scores (as I am doing here on ProTrack with the over45s which is simple with only six events for the season).

The awards presented at the annual dinner are meant to be surprises maybe?

I see it a fun marketing thing ...
what do other people think?

All information on end of season Awards can be found on the Saal website.Just go to ABOUT THE LEAGUE, FAQ, scroll down to rules of competition at the bottom of page.
End of season awards 21.1 and 21.2 should explain it all.
Nothing to hide , for awards worked out on the points system.
Stokesy if you are keeping a tally just be aware the points system is 4 for a win not 3.
So B Hart would be on 4 points at the moment and Hill Brown on 7 etc etc
Perhaps you can have another look at it and give us an up dated tally.

Just had a read of the rules myself and by the look of it OVER 45 runners also get points in OVER 35 races.
Not sure if that would be the case as it doesnt make mention to OVER 45 races.
Maybe hasnt been updated.
Perhaps you may wont to chase it up Stokesy and clarify it all for us.
I think Chris Dematric is in the box seat to come over the top of everyone.

hey Whispers, yes, Chris Dimitrak is a chance.

Last year, the Over45 category trophy was calculated on the six over45 races.

Ali Saliu, an over45 athlete, won the Over35 category trophy, in line with your comment, and in line with the fact that Over45 is a subset of Over35.

My 2012 so far - at Tea Tree Gully I was so busy chasing Ray Earle, at Camden I was so busy chasing Brian Witty, and then at Hectorville I was so busy chasing Brian Hart.

I reckon I do enough chasing on the track.

"All clear."

Well done Brian Witty, taking the big money at Flagstaff in the City of Onkaparinga & Messenger Newspapers Over45 400m.

Brian Witty held on ahead of fast finishing back marker Mark Beveridge who had beaten Brian in their heat.

Chris Dimitrak was third.

Is everyone enjoying the 3 weeks till our last meeting of the season.
For those that are a member with Athleticssa or competing interstate not a problem but others boring boring boring.
If the same thing happens next season ,why not create a meeting.
Say ,perhaps ask all those training squads not holding a meeting to come together and create one.You could have the BEACH SPRINTERS 70M,YOUNG GUNS 120M GIFT,TOWNLY OLD CODGERS oops OVER 45 120M, throw in a couple of Mort Daly under ages events and a couple of extra sponsors and bingo you have a meeting.
Maybe maximum prizemoney for each event $120 so the meeting is more of a keeping fit event and run for the sash event.
Also with prizemoney to the winner about $50 to $60 the event would need to be PENALTY FREE.
Would fill the gap of 3 weeks ,what do everyone else think of the 3 week gap and how do we fix it.
Im sure finding an oval wouldnt be to much of a problem.
