I believe there is a new handicapper in SA, although I'm not sure it's official yet.

Mark Faulkner retired at the conclusion of the 2009/2010 season opening it up for someone new.

Official announcement to be made soon but I believe it is a recently retired athlete of the utmost integrity and if he applies similar diligence in his preparation for the handicapping role as he did to his running, (which is a given) then he will do a superb job.

Leon Burckhardt got the job. Fuzzy has moved out of the state so didnt put in for the job.
No one else wanted the job so no one should complain. leon will do a good job.

There's conflicts of interest throughout the sport. No matter who did the job, someone is going to have some level of conflict. You need to worry about things you can control.

If Leon Burkhart is the handicapper, how come saal hasn't got it in the website or we haven't been notified by email?

can someone from the saal confirm it?

SAAL is working on a new website. Still not operating yet so some news going to the old one but not being updated as often.

Robbie Ziersch has definitely retired and will no longer be doing the distance handicapping. After 20 years, Rob is walking away from the sport for a well earned rest. Good bloke Rob, did a lot for the sport for very little reward. He always arrived early at the meets to check the circle track and put out the handicap discs as well as other tasks about the place.

I believe Ali Saliu has taken on the distance handicapping.

Big news for the SAAL, as it's the first time that both handicappers have left at the same time for over 20 years.

Which state did Fuzzy move to?
Would he be involved in another state?

Fuzzy is in New Zealand. Not likely to return. He lost interest 2 years ago and only did it for the cash. so dont expect him to get involved in athletics again. unless there's $$ involved.
